Despite that excitement most of this stuff is not from the new collections or anything, though I have bought a lot of it and I'm working on some reviews and some will definitely be on the February favorites.
But enough chatter- let's get started.
The very first thing is my ABSOLUTE favorite. It's Giving Grace by Philosophy. A few months back I went and got a bunch of sample perfumes from my Sephora girl when I was trying to find a new fall fragrance. I liked everything I got (including Katy Perry's Killer Queen- omg it's so not me, but so nice), but I really really liked Giving Grace. However, it always seemed like my boything favored the sweeter, sultrier scents and I held off on buying it. Then at the beginning of January I start to notice that he always mentions how good I smell or how it lingers over him each time I'm wearing Giving Grace. And then he goes and buys it for me while we were looking for the best deal. He's the worst. But it just smells so good. It's crisp and clean, but still warm. I can't say it lasts all day on me, but most perfumes don't where I'm concerned really. It's the best (until I finally man up and buy the Tory Burch one).
This next one was on my favorites on 2013 too. It's the Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Eye Cream. At the time though it was still busy in retail and there was a lot going on for the holidays and after the holidays and I wasn't getting a whole lot of sleep. So, the hyper-pigmentation under my eyes was compounded on by normal dark circles and there were times I looked awful. Now, I can actually appreciate how great this has made my undereyes. The pigmentation is never going away, let's be real, but this helps so much.
The Essence Gel Liner in Midnight In Paris was something I'd been meaning to buy for a looong time. It's just so hyped up on so many channels I watch. And I'm glad I finally did. I only just got a good eyeliner brush (two in fact), but I've been using eyeliner brushes from other sets and it's just amazing. I've stolen the Rimmel gel liner's brush right out of it's handy packaging because it's just so much better. It glides on smoothly, is super pigmented, and lasts well through my work day and then some.
I have been slowly trying more and more Rimmel products and falling soooooo in love with them. I just am constantly impressed with the things I try. The thing I've been using most in January was the ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Stick in Bad Girl Bronze. I usually wear this alone with a highlighter in the inner corner. I can either leave it as strong as it is and actually just draw on my eyes, or I can blend it out a bit. Either way it went a solid 14 hours without creasing on me.
In my 2013 favorites I had the Voluminous Carbon Black mascara, and it's still my baby, but I went out and got the Voluminous False Fiber Lashes. I actually wanted the Carbon Black version, but they were out and I was like EH. I really like this. I can't say it adds a crazy amount of length, but it does do something extra for me and it still does what my Carbon Black does for me. It's spectacular.
I'm normally a huge fan of Burt's Bees lip balms, have been for years, and a few months ago I got this pear and coconut one that smelled so good and for a while I loved it. And then it started doing something weird to my lips. Don't know if I was allergic to it or something, but it just felt really dry and tight, kind of like when you have a popped bubble gum bubble stretched over your lips. So mom got me three different Nivea A Kiss Of lip balms to try (they were on sale). We got A Kiss of Vitamins, A Kiss of Milk & Honey, and A Kiss of Smoothness and I love all of them. They don't make my lips feel dryer after, they feel so nice right after you apply, and they seem to be making a difference.
I'm sure everyone's heard of the L'Oreal Extraordinaire Color Riche Liquid Lipstick, especially in Nude Ballet. I don't usually wear many nudes, but I've worn this all month. It's such a nice color. It doesn't wash me out, isn't too brown or too pink, and it's smooth to boot. Let's be real, it barely lasts, but it's an easy color to just throw in your bag and reapply without needing a mirror.
Lastly, my sister kept stealing my EcoTools flat top brush that I was using for foundation, so I went out to buy her one for herself. And then Ulta had a BOGO50% on Real Techniques brushes and I thought, what the hell. I've been mixing it up between my beauty sponge and the Expert Face Brush for my foundations all month. Whenever I try anything new I like to use both, but sometimes I'm just literally too lazy to walk down the hall to the bathroom and wet my sponge so I grab the brush. It blends so nicely though, that I don't really care. It gives that flawless airbrush sort of look, I think, and is so soft I just want to run it over my face all the time.
That's about it for January Favorites, though I did have a lot of products I really enjoyed later on in the month that will probably go on my February faves.
I also just did a bunch of shopping and there might be a haul and some reviews coming soon.
So long for now.
