Review- Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten

All my January favorites are actually my February favorites, so I didn't really see a point in making a Favorites post.

The only thing that would have been added was this blush right here. I wore this A LOT.

I got it off of Hautelook in a great Laura Geller kit that included the Balance-n-Brighten Foundation in Tan, the Tinted Under Makeup Primer, a Baked Eye Pie Shadow Trio in Blueberry Muffin, an Italian Marble Lipstick in Mixed Berry, a double ended brush, and of course the blush in Berry.

I really actually should have gotten the Medium or even Light kit as far as the foundation goes, but they were sold out. And with good reason. All of that ran me $20 plus tax. And they were all full size. It was the best.

I might do a review on the other items at some point, but I really enjoyed the blush.

It's got that marbleized finish to it so it's hard to tell off the bat what the color will be like, but it gives you a nice rosy finish when applied carefully.

And you do have to be careful. It's super pigmented. The first time I tried it on I was not paying attention and dear god I looked terrifying. I have to lightly brush it on with my Elf Small Stipple brush, but it looks so nice. And it lasts most of the day on me, all depending on how my foundation holds up.

Aside from my Mac Mineralize blush in Warm Soul this is the only blush I wore in the whole month.

Review- Jesse's Girl 9-Pan Palettes

So I recently ordered a few of the Jesse's Girl palettes online with the Ipsy coupon code for February because I didn't get one of them in my Ipsy bag. Not gonna lie, the name kind of attracts me because my boything is Jesse so I'm actually Jesse's Girl. Stop judging me.

I got three- The Eyes Have It, Brown-Eyed Girl, and Tickled Pink. They also sent me a bunch of little baggies with samples for the Eye Dust. So I've been trying out a bit of stuff.

All of the colors feel the same- they're smooth and blend nicely, but some are clearly more pigmented than other. Across the board the lighter colors on the left end of the palettes are a lot more sheer. Still lovely, but sheer where the others pack a good punch.

I haven't noticed any undue creasing, but I tend to wear some kind of primer underneath like the Maybelline Color Tattoos, so there's that.

You'll please excuse the boything's leg and shoe.

First we have Brown-Eyed Girl, which is probably my favorite. It's a set a pretty warm neutrals. You've got your browns and golds and even an orange and they're beautiful. You can see how sheer the lighter shades get, but man those top ones are gorgeous.

Anyone else think some of these look like bruises? Either way they're still lovely. This is Tickled Pink, which still starts off with some pretty warm browns and russet type shades. Then we get some really light pinks and purples. The really light ones being sheer. The pink that's second from the top is actually a bit more pigmented than it shows up on camera. Looks nice and subtle on the lids. The other lighter shades, however, a pretty frosty in my opinion and I'm a little eh on that.

And the Eyes Have It. There's two blue shades in this palette, one frosty and sheer, the other just not as pigmented as I would have liked. However, the other green and brown shades are gorgeous. This palette is beautiful. I've been trying to incorporate more greens into my clothes and eye makeup because I've been told it looks really nice on me, so this is what I'll be reaching for most .

As for the Eye Dust samples, I haven't swatched any of them because it's a bit messy in the baggies and I really want to save them up for when I'm going to actually use them on my eyes, but I have tried one which is the Kiwi Rose one. It looks white when the powder is all together, but then it hits the light and it's a yellowy green duo-chrome-y thing. I don't know. It's hard to explain, but it looks awesome. I didn't notice any creasing when I wore it (primer underneath) and it lasted a good bit on my eyes. There is, of course, quite a bit of fallout since it's a powder.

I'm still trying out the rest and I might make a post of the best ones later on, but there's definitely some colors in there that it will be harder to put to use.

So far, I'm a fan of Jesse's Girl at least where the eyeshadows are concerned. There's unfortunately not a whole lot to pick from on their website so these might be the only thing I get. Who knows, they might come out with some new styles of the palettes.

Here's hoping.

Review- Wet n Wild Fergie BB Cream

I can't say a whole lot on this product, but I felt it needed reviewing. I bought it a while back because I had coupons (my favorite thing) and I finally got around to trying it on not long ago. It was really watery in texture and very sheer- which is to be expected from a BB cream in general. I'd say it was extra sheer though.

I couldn't, however, keep it on for more than 2 seconds. I took that sucker off lightning fast. It smells so bad. Like, toxic. I smelled it in the tube and grimaced but tried to be a trooper about it. NO.

I've got a pretty good nose on me, but I've never been super particular about scents on my products (except Kate Moss Rimmel lipsticks that all smell like roses and I HATE the smell of roses). I couldn't stand this though. I wiped it off, shared the smell with everyone in my household to prove I wasn't nuts, and went and returned it.

I can't get over that smell.

January 2014 Favorites

Yay for January being over! I don't know about you guys, but I work in retail and I absolutely love when the fiscal year ends and we can start all fresh like. But, January is so great for all the cool new makeup that comes out. SO MUCH NEW STUFF. Btw, the weather has been awful here in Florida so the lighting has been awful so you're getting official product pictures.

Despite that excitement most of this stuff is not from the new collections or anything, though I have bought a lot of it and I'm working on some reviews and some will definitely be on the February favorites.

But enough chatter- let's get started.

The very first thing is my ABSOLUTE favorite. It's Giving Grace by Philosophy. A few months back I went and got a bunch of sample perfumes from my Sephora girl when I was trying to find a new fall fragrance. I liked everything I got (including Katy Perry's Killer Queen- omg it's so not me, but so nice), but I really really liked Giving Grace. However, it always seemed like my boything favored the sweeter, sultrier scents and I held off on buying it. Then at the beginning of January I start to notice that he always mentions how good I smell or how it lingers over him each time I'm wearing Giving Grace. And then he goes and buys it for me while we were looking for the best deal. He's the worst. But it just smells so good. It's crisp and clean, but still warm. I can't say it lasts all day on me, but most perfumes don't where I'm concerned really. It's the best (until I finally man up and buy the Tory Burch one).

This next one was on my favorites on 2013 too. It's the Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Eye Cream. At the time though it was still busy in retail and there was a lot going on for the holidays and after the holidays and I wasn't getting a whole lot of sleep. So, the hyper-pigmentation under my eyes was compounded on by normal dark circles and there were times I looked awful. Now, I can actually appreciate how great this has made my undereyes. The pigmentation is never going away, let's be real, but this helps so much.

The Essence Gel Liner in Midnight In Paris was something I'd been meaning to buy for a looong time. It's just so hyped up on so many channels I watch. And I'm glad I finally did. I only just got a good eyeliner brush (two in fact), but I've been using eyeliner brushes from other sets and it's just amazing. I've stolen the Rimmel gel liner's brush right out of it's handy packaging because it's just so much better. It glides on smoothly, is super pigmented, and lasts well through my work day and then some.

I have been slowly trying more and more Rimmel products and falling soooooo in love with them. I just am constantly impressed with the things I try. The thing I've been using most in January was the ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Stick in Bad Girl Bronze. I usually wear this alone with a highlighter in the inner corner. I can either leave it as strong as it is and actually just draw on my eyes, or I can blend it out a bit. Either way it went a solid 14 hours without creasing on me.

In my 2013 favorites I had the Voluminous Carbon Black mascara, and it's still my baby, but I went out and got the Voluminous False Fiber Lashes. I actually wanted the Carbon Black version, but they were out and I was like EH. I really like this. I can't say it adds a crazy amount of length, but it does do something extra for me and it still does what my Carbon Black does for me. It's spectacular.

I'm normally a huge fan of Burt's Bees lip balms, have been for years, and a few months ago I got this pear and coconut one that smelled so good and for a while I loved it. And then it started doing something weird to my lips. Don't know if I was allergic to it or something, but it just felt really dry and tight, kind of like when you have a popped bubble gum bubble stretched over your lips. So mom got me three different Nivea A Kiss Of lip balms to try (they were on sale). We got A Kiss of Vitamins, A Kiss of Milk & Honey, and A Kiss of Smoothness and I love all of them. They don't make my lips feel dryer after, they feel so nice right after you apply, and they seem to be making a difference.

I'm sure everyone's heard of the L'Oreal Extraordinaire Color Riche Liquid Lipstick, especially in Nude Ballet. I don't usually wear many nudes, but I've worn this all month. It's such a nice color. It doesn't wash me out, isn't too brown or too pink, and it's smooth to boot. Let's be real, it barely lasts, but it's an easy color to just throw in your bag and reapply without needing a mirror.

Lastly, my sister kept stealing my EcoTools flat top brush that I was using for foundation, so I went out to buy her one for herself. And then Ulta had a BOGO50% on Real Techniques brushes and I thought, what the hell. I've been mixing it up between my beauty sponge and the Expert Face Brush for my foundations all month. Whenever I try anything new I like to use both, but sometimes I'm just literally too lazy to walk down the hall to the bathroom and wet my sponge so I grab the brush. It blends so nicely though, that I don't really care. It gives that flawless airbrush sort of look, I think, and is so soft I just want to run it over my face all the time.

That's about it for January Favorites, though I did have a lot of products I really enjoyed later on in the month that will probably go on my February faves.

I also just did a bunch of shopping and there might be a haul and some reviews coming soon.

So long for now.

Review- Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous

I mentioned earlier that I'd tried a lot of foundations. I couldn't seem to find something I liked enough. There will be plenty of foundation reviews on here, I promise, because I've got a lot of opinions.

Now, everyone on Youtube was talking about this guy here. I hadn't had much luck with previous Covergirl foundations, but I have a problem and I can't walk into a drugstore without buying some makeup unless I'm forcefully maneuvered away. So I gave it a go.

This foundation looks so nice and natural. It's not super matte, not very dewy, just natural. It lasts most of the day too. I work in a bookshop so it's not like I'm out running marathons or anything of the sort, but I do work my makeup. It wears a bit, just fades by the end, but you still look good.

And it passes the shoulder test. When this sets, it's set. It isn't going to transfer onto someone else's shirt unless you really try. Which is a thing I test often because I'm really tactile and if my hands are full I'll get my point across by headbutting or nuzzling your shoulder.

BUT, and this makes me so sad, it breaks me out.

I gave it a break the first time it happened, to make sure it was the foundation and nothing else. It's the foundation. It's nothing awful, but my skin has been doing so well that it just kills me to see these little blemishes pop up.

It's heartbreaking. Now I have to find a different foundation to leave at the boything's house.
